After teeth whitening, the teeth may be temporarily sensitive and more likely to pick up surface colour. Choosing simple food for the first day or two can help.

Good choices
- Water and milk.
- Plain curd or yoghurt.
- Rice, idli or light-coloured bread.
- Banana, peeled apple or pear.
- Potato, cauliflower and other pale vegetables.
- Plain chicken, paneer or egg.
What to limit for the first 24 to 48 hours
- Tea, coffee, cola and dark juices.
- Turmeric-heavy curries and dark sauces.
- Beetroot, berries and coloured sweets.
- Red wine and tobacco.
- Very hot, cold or acidic items if teeth are sensitive.
What if you drink tea or coffee?
Wait as advised by your dentist. When you return to these drinks, limit frequent sipping and rinse with water afterwards.
Keep cleaning normally
Brush gently with fluoride toothpaste and clean between the teeth. Do not scrub harder to keep the teeth white.
